This study explores the entrepreneurial journey of Winarso, a migrant from a modest family background who successfully built the culinary business “Bakso 50” in Pangkalan Kerinci. Growing up in financial hardship and unable to continue his education beyond junior high school, Winarso began working at a meatball shop where he gained valuable skills in food preparation, customer service, and quality control. After several years working as a contract laborer, he and his wife decided to pursue their dream of opening their own meatball business. The early phase of the venture was marked by failure due to an unsuitable location, which resulted in low customer turnout and financial loss. However, instead of giving up, Winarso demonstrated resilience by analyzing the challenges and relocating the business to a more strategic area. This decision became a turning point for the growth of “Bakso 50.” The success of the business is supported by several strategies, including selecting a strategic location, maintaining consistent taste, offering friendly and fast service, managing finances wisely, and introducing menu variations. The business not only improved the economic stability of Winarso’s family but also contributed positively to the surrounding community by providing employment opportunities and stimulating local economic activity. This case study highlights that hard work, perseverance, risk-taking, and the ability to learn from failure are essential factors in entrepreneurial success. It provides valuable insights for aspiring entrepreneurs who seek to build a business from the ground up.
